2016 Hyundai Elantra

2016 Ford Fusion

The numbers are quite nice for the 2017 Hyundai Elantra. Whether it be through performance specs, MSRPs, or mileage, this is a hardy sedan that works well for drivers of all ages. When details are compared against the 2016 Ford Fusion, for example, Hyundai is the obvious winner, providing yet another top-notch vehicle to its stellar line-up. To be sure, let's compare these two cars a little closer:

Pricing and Fuel Mileage

The 2017 Hyundai Elantra has favorable pricing and fuel mileage, which are often influential considerations for drivers:

  • 2017 Hyundai Elantra: The SE, Eco, and Limited trims have a worthy price range of $17,150-$22,350. EPA-estimated mpgs for the 2017 Elantra also reflect valuable numbers, at 26-32 city, and 36-40 highway.
  • 2016 Ford Fusion: Although the 2016 Fusion has more trims, the MSRP range of $21,995-$38,495 doesn't present any additional benefits. The same holds true for the EPA-estimated  17-21 city and 29-34 highway mpgs.

A supercharged core elevates the 2017 Hyundai Elantra's performance over that of the Fusion:

  • 2017 Hyundai Elantra: Outfitted with either a 147-hp 2.0L DOHC D-CVVT engine with 132 lb. ft. torque, or for the Eco trim, a 128-hp 1.4L turbocharged engine with 156 lb. ft. torque, the 2017 Elantra is a bold presence on the road. The transmission options are just as impressive, at standard six-speed or EcoShift® Dual Clutch SHIFTRONIC® seven-speed, or an optional six-speed SHIFTRONIC® with active eco system. An outstanding vehicle stability management system is another highlight of this compact car's distinctive dynamics.
  • 2016 Ford Fusion: The 1.5L, 2.0L, 2.5L, and 2.7L engine options for the 2016 Fusion are another set of clear differences that make this a less impressive car. Six-speed transmission and AdvanceTrac® with electronic stability control aren't on par with or beyond the enhancements found within the Elantra.

Extensive safety details and state of the art technology also show off the Elantra's appeal:

  • 2017 Hyundai Elantra: Driver focus is heightened with several standard and optional measures, including blind spot detection, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, automatic high beam assist, and rearview monitoring. The 2017 Elantra also has standout technology, with the Infiniti®stereo system with Clari-Fi Music Restoration, Android Auto Apple CarPlay, and Blue Link® integrations.
  • 2016 Ford Fusion: There should be a greater sense of safety implements in the 2016 Fusion, but it doesn't have the comprehensive measures to augment the rearview camera. The Sony® audio system, and SYNC®/SYNC®3/SYNC®Connect integrations are lesser than expected, and don't provide as much value.
