2020 Sonata: Exterior Features

With this new eighth generation, the 2020 Sonata takes a step toward the dramatic. A lower profile, wider stance, and sharp lines lend this sedan the look of a 4-door coupe. The new model promises some bold shades, such as Stormy Blue, Calypso Red, and a striking Glowing Yellow.

One of the exciting new features is a chrome strip that stretches from the bottom of the windshield to the headlamps. The lower portion of this strip is illuminated when the headlamps are on. It creates a signature look you'll recognize a mile away.

Sporty rims, chiseled sheetmetal, and a fastback-style rear make this sedan stand out in all the right ways. It's a stunner and a head-turner all in one!

Interior & Technology Features

The Hyundai Sonata interior sees an upgrade, and it looks more upscale than ever. The massive 8-inch infotainment screen comes standard (10.25-inch screen is available) and helps create a seamlessly flowing dash.

You'll get Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ as well. Pair a smartphone with the touchscreen and make calls, send texts, or manage your music library! Dual Bluetooth® connectivity will allow two mobile devices to be paired at once.

Broad lines in the dash add a luxurious feel to this car. Look lower, and you'll find a large tray in the center console for your miscellaneous items. With an available wireless charging pad, you can charge your phone without the worry of cords.

This Sedan's Performance Specs

Word has it that there will be two gas engines available in the 2020 Sonata. A 2.5L 4-cylinder should crank out up to 191 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque for a potent drive. Meanwhile, higher end trims are expected to offer a 1.6L turbo 4-cylinder with 180 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque on tap.

Both engines will use an 8-speed transmission to send power to the wheels. The Sonata will feature the new Hyundai shift-by-wire design, so you won't find a conventional shifter on the center console. You can shift gears simply by pressing a button.

The Sonata will come standard with front-wheel drive (FWD), but it's possible an all-wheel drive (AWD) version could be in the works. Stay tuned for more!
