2018 Elantra: Attractive Exterior Features

The elegant proportions and flowing lines of the 2018 Elantra lend it just the right amount of style without being overdone. At a length of 180 inches and width of 71 inches, it's small even for a compact car, making it easier to maneuver out on the open roads.

If you choose the Elantra Limited trim, you'll get several added perks, starting with larger, 17-inch wheels (compared to the base trim's 15-inchers) for a sportier look. Plus, the added chrome trim lends this trim some upscale bona-fides, and the LED accent lights look sharp and last longer than traditional bulbs.

Need an assist to open that trunk when your hands are full? The Elantra has you covered with an available hands-free smart trunk. When you have the proximity key fob in your pocket and stand near the trunk, it will open automatically-no foot-kicking sensor required!

Powertrain Options & Performance Specs

The base engine in the Hyundai Elantra sedan is a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder, producing 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque. You'll find those figures solid for around-town driving, but if you want to put a little more pep in your step, the Elantra's available engines can provide:

  • Turbocharged 1.4-liter 4-cylinder, good for 128 horses and 156 lb-ft (Eco trim).
  • Turbocharged 1.6-liter 4-cylinder, good for 201 horses and 195 lb-ft (Sport trim).

The higher torque in the Eco trim's engine makes it feel even punchier than the base engine on the road. And, it's the most fuel-efficient engine of the bunch, with an EPA-estimated 32 city and 40 highway MPG. Sip fuel like that, and you'll spend much less time at pump.

The Elantra GT (the hatchback version) has the same base and Sport powertrains as the Elantra sedan, but with modified outputs in the base engine. Its 2.0-liter 4-cylinder gets 161 horses and 150 lb-ft, perfect for moving the added weight of a fully packed hatch trunk.

Technology Features for Your Entertainment

Standard on every trim level but the base is a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which includes all the latest in smartphone integration. With Apple CarPlay™ or Android Auto™, pair up your phone with the car and access your favorite apps, from music to texting to navigation and more.

Optional on the Sport and Limited trims is an 8-inch touchscreen with a built-in navigation function. You won't have to rely on your phone apps for navigation anymore, as you can get easy-to-follow voice-guided, turn-by-turn directions to your destination.

Those same trims also feature available Clari-Fi™ Music Restoration Technology to give your tunes a rich, clear sound, free of the distortion that often occurs when music is digitized.
